Viscous breaking waves

joint work with Emmanuel Dormy, J. Fluid Mech. 984:R5 (2024)

We have developped a finite-element based code to numerically solve the free-surface Navier-Stokes equation. An initial condition leading to the formation of a plunging breaker is investigated. Particular emphasis is put on the high Reynolds number limit and the regularising effects of viscosity.

About me

I am a second year Ph.D. candidate working at the École Normale Supérieure (PSL university), in Paris. My work is primarily related to the theorey of Water Waves, and particularly to wave breaking. Even though my approach is essentially numerical, I am interested in the mathematical analysis of the water waves equations aswell.
